Maremma, the southern part of the Tuscany region, is less visited than Tuscany’s popular hill towns and attractions but it has a lot to offer, especially if you want go get a little off the beaten path. Here you’ll find picturesque villages like Pitigliano (one of my favorites), the rugged coastline of Monte Argentario, Etruscan sites, and wild countryside. It’s an interesting area to explore and Maremma Tuscany has put together an excellent online guide to the area, great for planning your trip or enjoying the beautiful photos from the comfort of your home.

It’s time for the fair! The Florida State Fair opens its gates this Thursday, February 9, in Tampa.

Last year, the Florida State Fair adopted a new slogan — “The Best Time of the Year” — to be used consistently to represent the fair brand. And, it really is the best time of the year! The fair does have it going on… whether it’s pig races, Elvis impersonators, cloggers or concerts. Of course, let’s not forget the gut-wrenching rides, corn dogs, cotton candy and things fried that you never thought could be fried, and you’ve got a great day of fun. The fair runs through Monday, February 20, 2012.
