Earl Moves Away from Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico

Hurricane Earl, which hit the British and U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico yesterday, is moving off into the open ocean east of Turks and Caicos. A tropical storm warning is in effect for the Turks and Caicos and the Bahamas is under a tropical storm watch, but neither island group is expected to be directly impacted by the powerful Category 4 hurricane, which now has maximum sustained winds of 135 mph.
